Lanny Correll Sr. Pawley’s Island club guru honored for “superior knowledge, skill, and commitment” in custom club fitting.
Custom-fitted clubs have long been the norm on the professional tours. By analyzing a player’s size, physical characteristics, and ball launch conditions, club fitters are able to build golf clubs with precise specifications that maximize each individual’s performance. Lanny Correll Sr. has brought his twenty five years of unique experience of custom club fitting service to golfers in the Pawley’s Island & surrounding areas. A Certified Master Club Fitter by KZG, Correll plies his trade in a facility best described as a high tech country club. Dr. Golf features an area for testing and analysis, a putting green, a workshop for building and repair, and a complete showroom of clubs and accessories. Visiting customers are exposed to the entire custom fitting process. Correll employs the equipment industry’s latest technology to make the fitting experience as comprehensive as possible. In addition to a quick-connect system that allows customers to test virtually any combination of shaft and clubhead, Dr. Golf uses launch monitors to gather precision data – spin rate, launch angle, ball speed -- about how customers hit the golf ball. Correll also employs a special device to measure shaft performance during the swing. This information helps him make accurate recommendations about what shaft and head specifications best fit his customers’ swings and physical attributes. “At the end of the day it’s all about expectations – meeting mine means exceeding the customers’,” says Correll. “If the clubs aren’t right or don’t look perfect in every way, they’re dismantled and I’ll start over. Being a perfectionist has been a real blessing to my business.” Correll no doubt brings that perfectionism to his own golf game: Along with his son, Lanny Jr., the Corrells have won the National Father-Son Golf Championship twice and the South Carolina title five times. “We’re thrilled to be associated with a professional club fitter of Lanny’s caliber,” said Jennifer King, President of KZG. “Much of the golf world operates under the false impression that custom fitting means simply taking a player’s static measurements, or testing a handful of demo clubs for personal preference. Real custom fitting is one part science, one part craft, and one part understanding people. A great fitter not only harnesses the latest ball launch monitors to build high-performance equipment, but possesses the intangibles to create a meaningful and successful personal relationship between the golfer and his clubs. Lanny Correll couldn’t be a better example of that ideal.”
The Q-Fit Process
